March 20, 2021 kicked off the return of the Bass Battles Pro Series at Tenmile Lake Sponsored by Nixon’s Marine, Drain Raider, and Tac Aero. Anglers took the water Saturday for placement into the 16 angler bracket. A tougher Seeding Event for most kept anglers looking ahead at Sunday knowing anything can happen in the Head to Head round. Saturday’s Seeding Event Winner, Tyler Nale, had concerns all day until the last hour of the day when his big bites finally happened. With a Big Bass of 5.65 lbs and a 4 bass limit of 15.94, Tyler took the top spot and some nice cash and prizes from Uncensored Fisherman and Three Rivers Tackle. Tyler would eventually face off against Art Ferreira in the head to head round Sunday advancing to the Elite 8 with just 2 bass for 4.79 lbs.
Second Place Seeding went to another “Naler”, Austin Nale, with 5 bass limit of 14.49 lbs good enough for $250, Darlings Resort Gift Certificates, and Tackle Pack from Nixon’s Marine, Uncensored Fisherman, and Columbia River Jigs. Austin paired up against Tim Kennedy on Sunday for the Head to Head Battle and pulled out the win with 4 bass for 8.81 lbs.
Third Place was a familiar face to Bass Battles. 3 Time Champion Jeremy McKay was able to edge out Chris Carpenter for the last money spot on Saturday winning $100, Tackle packs, and Darlings Resort Gift Certificates. Sunday’s head to head matchup put Drain Raider Team members against each other with William “Que” Moffett of Just Fishing TV. Que managed one bass in a tough bite but Jeremy was able to stay consistent with a limit for 14.65 lbs and one step closer to a 4th Bass Battles Title.
Fourth Place on Saturday’s Seeding Event went to Chris Carpenter in his first Bass Battles competition. With Chris’ knowledge and winning history at Tenmile, we wouldn’t have to wonder long if he was saving fish for Sunday’s Head to Head round against Peter Gobel. Sunday, Chris had the big bag of the event with 16.23 lbs advancing him to the Elite 8 at Siltcoos Lake.
Fifth Place, Mike Strickler, also returns for redemption in Bass Battles on the Oregon Coast. Having done well in previous years and still looking for an elusive title, Mike made his bites count both Saturday and Sunday advancing to the Elite 8 with a head to head win over David Mays with 8.45 lbs to David’s 2.26.
Sixth Place from Mobile Diesel Repair, Shawn Smalley picked up some confidence bites on Saturday to lock in on just enough for the Head to Head round vs Aaron Van De Hey and advance to the Elite 8.
Seventh Place Angler Bobby Brown couldn’t capitalize on key bites Saturday but gained momentum Sunday with a single Willamette Weapon Custom Lure doing all the damage in the head to head round against Michael Conser. A 5.05 Big Bass of Round 1 anchored a solid 15.15 lb limit for the win and advancing to the Elite 8.
Eighth Place, 2019 King of the Coast, Ron Six managed 5.66 lbs on Saturday and squeaked out a Head to Head victory Sunday against Scott Douglas to stay alive in Round 2. Ron looking to represent Team Drain Raider with another Bass Battles Title in 2021.
