July 16, 2017 Jeremy McKay and Rosie “The Professor” Williams faced off in the first championship round of Bass Battles at Tahkenitch Lake. The event stakes were cash prizes of $1500 for first and $750 for second and placement in the TBF National Semi-Finals.
Tahkenitch Lake can be one of the most challenging bodies of water of the larger Oregon coastal lakes compared to Tenmile and Siltcoos and would prove to be the case in this summertime battle. Both anglers received on the water updates through the day on their competitor and split time being harassed by on the water video and interviews while they attempted to take the first title.
At the scales, Jeremy McKay would come in with just 4.18 lbs and leave the door wide open for “The Professor” with a few missed fish opportunities. Would those misses come back to haunt the undefeated McKay??? With a difficult day on the water, “The Professor” would only bring 2.68 lbs to the scales and a vow to return in 2018 to put more pressure on with this challenging new format.
Congrats to the 2017 Bass Battles Champion, Jeremy McKay!
Jeremy would also go on to compete and win the TBF National Semi-Finals on the Columbia River securing his spot at the TBF Nationals at Bull Shoals, Arkansas in 2018.
